We always enjoy Tom Ford's seasonal lookbooks. Not so much because we have any hope of ever owning this stuff, but rather because he inspires us with his use of colour, texture, materials and silhouettes. And of course challenges us with things like models from outer space, ubiquitous ascots and loose pleated trousers. A few highlights from Fall / Winter 2011: Left: Rich cashmere/angora crewneck paired with beige cords and a camel jacket. This is the sort of composition one might actually hope to achieve using lesser brands and a real-world budget. Middle: A great Prince of Wales coat over plaid trousers demonstrates how potentially clashing layered patterns are rendered rich and luxurous when a monochrome palette is employed. Right: The greatest velvet jacket of all f**king time.
