We ask a lot of clothing before it earns a place in our wardrobes—that it have modern fit but timeless style, that it be comfortable, well made, and affordable. We expected nothing less from L.L.Bean's collaboration with Alex Carleton of Rogue's Gallery fame, and we weren't disappointed, as time and time again they came out with versatile pieces that quickly became favourites in every season. Some top picks from left to right: Wool flannel trousers with a wonderfully rich texture. A cotton khaki suit with a bespoke-ish high lapel notch and working surgeon's cuffs. Workhorse gingham shirt. 100% cashmere shawl collar sweater. This winter they've added wool tartan slacks (at a slightly un-L.L.Bean-like price of $175) and an update of their classic Blue Rock Sweater. We can't wait to see what next season will bring.
