Allen Edmonds bills itself as "The Great American Shoe Company", and quite honestly and without hyperbole, we regard them as sort of a sartorial national treasure. Depending on how you look at it, their $200-$300 shoes are either among the very best in their price range, or some of the greatest bargains in their quality and style segment. So we were encouraged to see an article in the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel about the Wisconson-based company that reveals sales are up and they're adding jobs lost in the recession. 90% of AE shoes are made in the US, which has to be no small feat in this day and age. Pretty cool.
